Automation of "Wendy's" and "Dunkin' Donuts" cafes in Georgia

June 1, 2018 marked the launch of the most exclusive, extraordinary, technically complex, and grand project implemented by "Maitek" – the automation of the partner cafes Wendy's and Dunkin' Donuts in the heart of the glorious Georgia – its capital Tbilisi.

We are pleased to share with you the details of the development and implementation of the automation system specifically designed for these establishments, as well as introduce you to all the advantages of using our proprietary solutions!

Let's begin with the specifics of the establishments and their unique features. Wendy's is a global café chain rapidly expanding through a franchise system. The main feature of the Wendy's café in Tbilisi is that this location, unlike others in the network, has a playroom with arcade games for children.

Before the owner of the Wendy's café reached out to "Maitek," the establishment used a token-based payment system for the arcade games, which was quite outdated. In response, we proposed an innovative automation scheme: not just replacing simple tokens with cards, but introducing two chips on the cards: one for bonuses (accumulating) and the other for the customer's electronic money (in this case, Georgian lari).

This allowed café visitors to accumulate bonuses and pay with electronic money when ordering food or using the arcade machines, significantly improving service quality and minimizing the risk of dishonest actions with tokens by the café staff. Prior to the card-based payment system, tokens purchased by customers could bypass the cashier. Thus, we not only optimized the operation of the Wendy's café but also increased its profits by eliminating fraudulent activities with tokens.

Regarding the implemented automated card systems, they function both online and offline. Along with the card payment system, "Maitek" also installed a specialized program at the café's cash register, with an additional device called an "encoder", which serves as an intermediary between the installed cash register software and the customer cards.

As for the arcade machines, special controllers were installed that display the pricing for various games and conduct transactions: initially, funds are deducted from the bonus account, and only then from the primary account (electronic lari). A significant advantage of these controllers is that the café staff, according to management requirements, can change the game machine rates depending on the day of the week or even the time of day (when customer traffic is higher or lower).

Thanks to the automated solutions from "Maitek," the staff and owners of the Wendy's café can now view statistical data about the arcade machines in the form of online reports, and customer information and transaction histories are always displayed on the customer cards.

Soon, the Dunkin' Donuts café, a partner of Wendy's, joined the system we implemented. Since these cafés are interconnected by similar service schemes and strong partnerships, it was decided to automate Dunkin' Donuts as well. As a result, visitors to both cafés can now use one card at both establishments: for example, a customer orders at Dunkin' Donuts, accumulates bonus points on the card, which can then be used at the Wendy's arcade. This system is very popular among visitors to both Georgian establishments and promotes the services of one café through the other. The bonus system effectively retains loyal customers and attracts new ones!

Regarding the technical aspects of implementing such a complex system in both cafés, "Maitek" created 8 local servers connected to the main server at the central office. This ensures data synchronization, and local servers receive information about the customer cards at Wendy's and Dunkin' Donuts. Thanks to this type of automated system, the electronic wallet of visitors functions even in offline mode, which is a huge advantage for both customers and their service staff.

"Maitek" stays ahead of the curve and always looks for innovative approaches to professional automation, improving existing technologies and introducing new project solutions! We not only care about our customers but also provide individual solutions for every business.

Automation of the "Budva" Water Park in Montenegro

One of our most impressive projects is the comprehensive automation of a water park located in the heart of sunny Montenegro - the city of Budva. The water park, named after the city, is the largest and most extensive in the entire Adriatic, with an area of approximately 41,000 sq.m. and a daily footfall of over 6,000 people! The "Budva" water park features its own infrastructure with numerous attractions for visitors of all ages, as well as restaurants, children's cafes, mini-bars, and souvenir shops throughout the territory.

In 2016, Maitek fully automated this facility! The numbers speak for themselves: we equipped the "Budva" water park with more than 940 lockers with electronic locks, provided over 2,500 contactless bracelets, and completely automated the entrance area by installing turnstiles and cash equipment. We also carried out comprehensive automation of the restaurants, cafes, and bars within the water park, resulting in the successful implementation of the software package R-Keeper to serve customers at the cash register and manage resources at the managerial level.

However, we raised the bar even higher, and now we are installing specialized motion, deformation, and tilt angle sensors on the water park's attractions to ensure that visitors' stay is safer and more comfortable, while maintaining a higher level of service!

Tens of thousands of visitors, millions of cubic meters of water, high-tech mechanization - all of this is the magnificent Montenegrin water park "Budva" with automated projects and solutions from Maitek!

Automation of the children's play center "Top Fun" in Slovakia

Perhaps the most interesting project in the automation of children's play centers is the collaboration between Maitek and the Slovak facility "Top Fun", located in the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava.

The "Top Fun" children's play center is a modernized facility featuring playrooms with both virtual reality and real-world play equipment.

Maitek provided the "Top Fun" center with special automated cards, allowing the owners to monitor staff actions even when they are away from the center. By replacing simple coins for arcade machines with special client cards, better control over the staff was achieved, reducing the risk of dishonest actions (while coins could be easily bypassed at the cash register, actions with cards are fully automated, eliminating the possibility of fraud from staff members).

As a result, Maitek not only optimized the process of issuing coins to customers, making their experience at the play center more comfortable, but also increased the center's profit by eliminating the potential for dishonest practices with game tokens.
